Because Moms Deserve Nice Meals Too
Taking my daughter out to eat almost feels like a solo date… almost. And to say that’s an understatement would be generous 😅
She’s three now, but ever since I could bring her along, she’s been my itty bitty lunch date. I used to love my true solo food dates — my guilty pleasure. Just me, champagne, oysters, and a good steak. Oh Capital Grille… how I miss thee 🥂😂
Restaurant dates look very different with a toddler in tow, and let’s be real — it hasn’t come easy. Toddlers have big personalities, strong opinions, and a magical ability to make us question our entire existence before appetizers even arrive.
What’s helped this mama is having a few manageable, quiet activities that keep her engaged while we wait for food — and give me a tiny breather. Most of the items on this list are things I enjoy playing with her, but honestly, she also loves her independence. Sometimes it feels like she needs a break from me too… can you believe it? 😂
So here’s what’s been working for us lately. I hope it helps you too 🤍
🧩 Puzzles
Perfect for little hands and great for focus at the table.
📘 Busy Books
Interactive, engaging, and quiet — a restaurant win.
🧲 Magnetic Play
Endless combinations without pieces flying everywhere.
🎨 Mess-Free Coloring
My personal favorite — creativity without chaos.
If you have any other toddler-friendly restaurant tips, please drop them in the comments or send me a message — I’m always happy to add more to our list.
Here’s to hot meals, calm toddlers (even if just for 10 minutes), and moms still finding joy in the little things 💛
